UX Isn't Just a Role — It's a Responsibility
Today, I did something that felt necessary:
I reached out to a company that’s repeatedly posted the same UX Researcher role with no hiring follow-through, urging them to consider the emotional impact of evergreen job listings.
I also responded to another company offering a full-time, in-person UX/UI role in a high-cost area — at a salary level that doesn't meet livable wage standards.
In both cases, I wasn’t angry. I was honest. And I grounded my feedback in the very values UX stands for: empathy, transparency, and equity.
UX isn’t just about improving product experiences. It’s about advocating for people — whether that’s users navigating a digital interface, or candidates navigating an uncertain job market.
I don’t know how my words will be received. But I hope they spark reflection.
I hope they encourage companies to hold their hiring practices to the same standard they expect of their design teams.
And I hope they empower others to speak up — especially those who often feel they can’t.
If we claim to care about user experience, we need to care about human experience, too. Everywhere.
